Switching domain names, site structure and design

i_love_lamp I’ve been blogging for about seven years now (wow) and have been using WordPress exclusively for two of those seven years (I also ran Blogger, Movable Type and Textpattern). Due to recent events with hackers, phishing and a general staleness with ceezer.org, I have decided to make a move over to a new server and a new domain name. Of course, I couldn’t resist creating a new custom theme for my WordPress install. With that, I give you c3sart.com with the “I Love Lamp” theme.

Even though the server part of the mess was painstakingly frustrating, porting my content to a new server was simplified by having the bulk of my content in WordPress. Even when it was impossible to access the admin area, I was able to export the old WordPress SQL database and import it into a fresh 2.6 install (with some help from Dusty, programmer extraordinaire—thanks dude!). What you see before you is all the same content, showcased in a brand new downtown loft. ;)

Eventually, I will change the old ceezer.org permalinks to redirect to c3sart.com and all the other fun (not) technical details associated with a domain name switch. I’ll be open-sourcing the theme when I have some free time to make it a bit more generic.

Hope the theme ahem, turns you on like it does me. At the time of this writing, the only page that doesn’t have any content is the Portfolio section, but I’ll try to get that up and running fairly soon. Why is that always the hardest section to compile?

Gimme your thoughts on the design and let me know if it looks totally jacked in your browser. Creative feedback is always appreciated!

  2. I LOVE this. I made a groaning noise when I ran the mouse over the lamp and saw it light up. Shari came in from the office across the hall to see if I was pleasuring myself.

I want you to make me one for my half birthday.

  3. Dude, this is hot. Good work!
