Tap Tap Revenge 2

tapulous_banner

Partnered with Tapulous, Inc., purveyors of some of the most-downloaded iPhone applications on the Apple App Store (including Twinkle, Collage and FriendBook), to create themed versions of their most popular game, Tap Tap Revenge 2 . (You can read the company’s blog post about the launch on the company blog.)

The themes for Black Tide and JET were both approached as brand extensions for the bands. Careful consideration was given to keep the existing “feel” of the TTR2 game, but the themes still had to ultimately promote the two singles “Warriors Of Time” and “She’s A Genius” without interfering with game play.

Normal gameplay modes in addition to “Revenge” modes were created as part of the final theme resources.

Initial concept input was given for the themed game featuring the Jackson 5 track “ABC” released the week following the Black Tide theme.

Mancala Time

Created a new identity for Mancala Time, a free, web-based, fully AJAX version of the popular game. Tasks included evolving an existing color palette, designing two wordmark layouts and providing resources for the game’s interface (including a new board and game pieces).

Featured Users

Featured Users site

Created the logo, illustrations and layout for FeaturedUsers, an advertising network for Twitter applications.

Friend Or Follow is the flagship application in the FeaturedUsers publisher network. Although Friend Or Follow was designed first, it is positioned as a part of the FeaturedUsers network, thus creating an interesting design challenge. Similiar shapes, colors and design cues were used to achieve consitency between the FeaturedUsers network and the Friend Or Follow mini-product.

While a simple execution, the layout lends itself to scalability once the ad network becomes more robust.

ZiteFeed

ZiteFeed Widget

Designed a widget for Appozite’s ZiteFeed product that displays as an overlay over e-commerce sites.

The client wanted to create a piece that would be intuitive and present interactions that users would be familiar with—but perhaps with an execution they may not have seen on a site before.

We explored tabs on the edge of a browser page, pull-downs, accordions, ribbons and badge overlays. In the end, we replicated interactions from iPhone on a simple overlay—even down to the “progress dots” at the bottom of the widget chrome.

One challenge that came up in production was tracking down high-resolution logos for the readers the widget presented as options. Five of the eight logos were pieced together by me when I couldn’t acquire them online.

Friend Or Follow

I created the logo, home page and theme layouts for Friend Or Follow, a mini web application for Twitter users. Development was done by Dusty Reagan.

The overall experience of the pieces needed to invoke the Twitter look-and-feel, but still have a personality of its own to stand on. The home page minimizes superfluous design by integrating form elements into the page’s layout.

To add a personalized feel, a user’s profile page integrates content and styling from their Twitter profile (icon, biography, links, background image and link colors).

Morgen Academy

Morgen Academy contacted me regarding the creation of their identity and branding. They sought a modern look for their private school without the “prep-school” attitude.

The school provide CMYK values for the blue and gold colors in the mark, colors that already existed in their current branding pieces. In the creative brief, the client noted the German translation for “morgen”—”tomorrow” and “morning.” This served as the main inspiration behind the final design of the logo.

Yoono

Website design for SocialMediaCamp.us, Yoono‘s campus ambassador portal.

The Social Media Campus campaign was a brand extension for the startup, so had to carry over some of the stylings from the original product.

Twitter integration was crucial for the portal, so updates was featured prominently in the header with the provided logo (which set the tone for most of the design decisions upon receipt).

Apposaur

Logo and site design for Apposaur, an iPhone app review site. Careful attention to the logo and other elements (the search form’s styling, footer, etc.) was given to ensure something that would quickly resonate with iPhone users.

The site’s layout provides maximum room for featured content without blocking the constant stream of weekly posts.

Grid.org

Helped Grid.org, a community for open source cluster and grid users, create a logo and mascot for their project.

Look closely—you may be able to figure out what open source CMS the site is run on.
