The tabs are going to be great to provide some context around different parts of what had become an incredibly long profile. I wonder, though, what these changes will do to applications when they get shunted off into the last of several tabs. Also, your prediction of a user shock rings true. They're going to have to do a very good job of communicating this to the "normal" (read: not just the technical crowd) user or people are going to slam them. And yeah, Zuckerberg so wants to be Steve Jobs it's not funny. I’m not a designer (far from it) but I think your analysis of these changes is spot on.
