Entertainment as of late
Lately I’ve come across a few albums of artists that haven’t put anything out in a while that are pretty decent.
Jimmy Eat World‘s new album, Chase This Light, is a pretty good listen. What’s funny is that I was never a huge fan of them– I knew them from the radio and “The Middle” just like any casual listener, but this album and a few other tracks I’ve been listening to lately (namely “23″ and “For Me This Is Heaven”) have made me listen to their entire back catalog. Better late than never?
I’m really liking Graham Colton‘s Here Right Now. I haven’t heard anything from him since he was heading the Graham Colton Band, but the sound is the same.
My friend Kristin has got me listening to Sunset Rubdown, a band I missed playing at the Bowery Ballroom while I was in New York. Thankfully, I got to catch them the week after I got back to Austin. Their album Random Spirit Lover is their latest release. Spencer Krug (Wolfparade, Swan Lake, etc.) is pretty much a musical genius.
Oh, and in case you were wondering if the new Angels & Airwaves album, I-Empire, is going to be good when it comes out next week…I have a strong feeling it will be. ;)
On my nightstand, I’ve been breezing through Guy Kawasaki‘s The Art of The Start. Even though the book is a few years old, it’s still relevant to the entrepreneurial and marketing industries. It reads just like one of Guy’s blog posts, only analog.
Before that, Malcolm Gladwell‘s Blink was really interesting. With only two books down (and a great blog and countless New Yorker articles), he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite modern writers.
Check some of these out!
