Austin Evolution #3
Last night I attended a town hall meeting at the Austin City Hall regarding a complete redesign of the Austin city website.
From austingo.org:
Redesigning the Web site will make government more open to the residents of Austin. Public input in the redesign of the Web site, will ensure one of the best municipal Web sites in the nation. By working together, we can create a new standard for open government and a Web site that benefits everyone.
Not only is it great that the city is considering citizen input, I think it’s even greater that they’re using this as a catalyst for a more open governmental structure. I’m glad that the idea of transparency has made it to the municipal level. It’s a very large undertaking, but I think if the city goes about it the right way, it’s really going to pay off.
I’m excited to see where this goes.
